I have very little mech. knowledge of bikes, would the main fuse cause the loss of all power? Not a single light will come on and of course the bike wont start. It all started as i went to crank the bike up. i put a new battery in to eliminate that possibility.

I just looked at the owners manual (why didn't you?)
The fuse box is behind the left side cover. Remove the bolts and pull the side cover outwards.
The electrical problem could be -
Dead battery
Loose battery terminals
Main fuse
Ignition switch defective or unplugged
The battery is under the seat. To remove the seat, turn the key (ignition switch) counter clockwise to "open" and lift the front of the rider's seat.
