Because parents think that the constant reminder that they hold the universal truth behind life's greatest mysteries is one way of having control over their children. Parents will always want the best for their children, however, it sometimes comes to a point wherein they overdo it and they feel as if they can forever protect their kids from the harshness of life.
Also, Filipino parents expect that their sons and daughters will take care of them in the future. Hence the need for them to have control over the children. I think Filipino parents always find it hard to let go of their sons and daughters... go figure why it's so common to see the 30 year old son still living in the house of the parents or we often see a newly wed couple living with one of the families.
Why don't Filipino parents let their daughters date anybody? Either the daughter is too young to date or she always falls for the wrong guys or maybe there is a lack of trust. The background of the parents should also be brought into consideration... what if the mom is a single mom and she doesn't want her daughter to end up the same way... there are too many possibilities.
But, what do I know... I'm no parent.

they are being self righteous? I hate that folk think of that in view which you're an adolescent, you could't be a in positive condition ascertain. collectively as i do no longer advise it (been there, that's confusing), young infants, twentysomethings and previous can decrease to rubble their young infants the two. no longer all and sundry is decrease to be a ascertain, even with age. i ended severe college once I had one new child and replaced into pregnant with the 2d and went directly to college had #3 and four with tips from the time I had my degree. i did no longer enhance delinquents, all my young infants have college tiers and none of my young infants have had young infants themselves and that they are of their mid 20's. i will assert it makes a distinction if a father is in contact-I firmly have faith it takes 2. it is not your age however the affection and nurturing you furnish. If a ascertain is being harsh with teen ascertain criticism that's because of the fact they choose you to end all your targets and desires till now you're saddled down with infants. infants are a lifelong dedication no longer a decision to be taken gently or an "coincidence"-fantastically no longer in recent times. ok, i'm off the soapbox...LOL!

I have asked the same questions against my parents when I was young and innocent and selfish. Now that I am older and have grown children of my own, I begin to see where they are coming from.
Filipinos, speak their mind especially to their children they do not think about how it will hurt their childrens feelings and how it will impact them later on, for them all they want is to instill some values to their children regardless of how they will say it.
My advice is to give them a reason to trust you. They want a future for you and they will do anything to make sure you will.

Perhaps it's because Philippines is more Catholic than the Vatican, and super puritanical at the same time.

Because their parents were like that. They were brought up in a culture where "parents are always right". So they think they are.
I hope our generation will know better.
