REASON for asking there are some big heated racial arguments going on tonight....

and i was curious to see if people would even sit here and go right black people

i think guns this that and whatever just to see if people would label

as when you label your a hidden racist without knowing as everything you say a black person can do a white man does it aswell so there is no difference we are all equal and the same

a black man robs a store its local news and cuts in on black society

a white man robs a store its never talked about

why do we seperate like this is wrong

this cuestion was mainly to make people think and my own personaly curiosty

for those of you who had something to say bout black race to me this is a form of racist depending only on what you said

as to say black men like weed so do white men and other races

to say about guns do you think it is only a black man

ill tell you what it is today society protray black man bad in media they only advertise black mans faults and dont praise the black men who become your doctors your lawyers

or me a social worker example

we still live in what i call a labelling prejudice and racist world

the sad part is so many people dont realize they are these things as it has been passed down to them for centuries and threw the media which who is the man race that produce the media

as you watch black peoples media its not protray race or labelling its about

SOUL FOOD FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT...ETC ETC

you watch a film who is the first one get shoot who is always the gangster...

2007-01-13 02:40:33 · update #3

yes its true who is always on crimewatch black people
black people are portrayed on TV all the time for slating women drugs violence etc....so there for public build up a racist image not giving black youths a fair chance n society
i watched the news and i heard a white women say once its those black hoodie boys what does there skin matter as i know in london there are same equal amount of white and asian who dress and listen to the same gangster music...If we keep caterogrizing people you will cause them to build a hate and then racistium will never end

I agree I've not been brought up in a way to think of black this and then white that. I'd be lost for words if you asked for my views on white society, I see things on an international basis, countries etc. I agree with other like minded people, when I meet someone for the first time or even for the final time I don't think about their race. If you forced me to think solidly along the narrower line of black society I would say church, brixton street market, and some of the presenters on bbc london radio, because they are part of my personal history, I would say black society is part of my history because I haven't disowned anything from my childhood regardless of what the so called upper echelons of society think, if you work abroad ie asia europe some of the people you meet are not going to be so friendly or even honest. If you say guns, drugs, well how about the italian mafia, the drugs trade in the far east.

Personally i have never put white in one corner and black in the other. Your question has got me thinking, because i can't say i have ever categorised or labelled either race as anything specific. I'm not even sure what i think of 'white society' and I'm only separating the 2 and attempting to do so because of your question.
The only way i have ever had to define either is in a pass tense, when studying history. 'Black society' i really can't describe, whereas Black history is much easier to do so. This is a part of their heritage and their history, therefor playing a part in their culture.
Any person who can define a whole race on a pre-judged conception, will always separate the two and shall continue to be part of the reason our community's stay divided.

I grew up in Germany where, as I noticed over the years, no forms exist which ask you at the bottom what race you are.
I remember about 20 years ago, seeing a news show, and someone in the room said, 'the black newscaster'... I asked which one that was, since I didn't see any. I was told 'this one', and I said, where is he black - oh, he had 'black' hair...I grew up being called a Nazi as a 14 year old and never could figure out why that was my fault. My dad always taught me that you meet a PERSON, and you assess them for who they are, how they treat you, and not for what race, religion, or whatever else there is.
I feel, we, all of us, as a society, make prejudice what it is today; we should be grateful for all our different cultures and embrace and share them. Different countries, different languages, food, these are all my favourite things to experience - I wish, we would not keep putting stamps and; therefore, unnessecary conflicts on all of us...

All black people are mixed. It just that a lot black people will not claim their white blood.
The media like to focus on the negative black people in our society. So a lot of people believe that is how black people should be, therefore blacks and white believe the bad things about black people.
The sad thing is a lot of black people believe this and try to achieve this.
This make it hard for black people who see the truth. If you can read and write you are not black. If you do not sell drugs you are not black. This is the real problem in black society. So a lot of black people turn their backs on this and are frowned upon. They will call you a uncle tom.( If you read the book Uncle Tom's Cabin you will know that is not an insult. Uncle Tom die helping some run away slaves escape.) If you are light skinned or appear to have more white blood than the rest of us they will treat you worst.

A sell out is a black person who make it without playing ball, selling drugs or being part of the liberal machine that has oppress us for decades. Marion Barry the crack smoking Mayor of Washington D.C is a role model, Collin Powell is not .
Dr. William Cobsy is ridiculed for has remarks, but there is no out cry from the " black community" when people talk about teaching broken english is our school.(Ebonics)
This is not a racial thing. Alot of white help us fight for our freedom even though this made them hated and outcast from their own people. They treat these people worst than how they treated black people How black people today would do this. There are a lot of black who have do just as much damage to the black community as any KKK member.
The problem is ignorance.

I think that answering this question is a bad idea and is a loaded ?. At least you have admitted upfront that you have an agenda!! kudos. When whites comment on blacks no matter what they say it is twisted into something they never said. If someone wants to get to know me great .. I will never turn a new friend down, but don't test me.

*** update*** I read your question which was very clear to me.
Your ? was not too deep for me.
You had a question that you only asked a part of and admitted to holding back to prove your thesis. You also gave us examples of what you thought we would think. quote "I mean just as an example this is not to say this is what i think
guns....drugs...sense of humor...what ever you think and WHY>"
Just make your point ask for opinions and get on with it.

As an outsider I would temper my answer by questioning what parts of 'Black Society" you are referring to?

I see mainly the side presented by the media, which is the American gangsta rap ,misogynistic arena and the drug related arena, plus the heavily into church arena.

None of which I am sure clearly represent true Black Society.

As to my friends , they are fun loving, God fearing and work dedicated. But then , those are the kind of friends I choose.

Everything is subjective isn't it. But no culture is truly how it looks from the outside and we tend not to want to see the best in anyone who is in any way different from us in case we are found lacking.

To be honest, I've experienced racism from being the only white person in a class.

I think the in-group will always pick on those on the outside, whatever the in-group happens to be.

Black society, in its element, is fantastic. Its when the effects of deprivation are evident, that the problems arise.

there is a real separation in this country ,regarding black people and white people. Its not just black people who can get into trouble with the law,not all black people who smoke weed,I know of plenty around where I live who do that, and they are white boys, teenagers who think they are black.I have always gotton on with black people and found them great company to be around, although recently I did have one experience that i would rather forget,re guarding a mixed-race female.I did go through a period of thinking that people like her ,are all the same. But after a time,i began to realise that ,she was one a minority, like there are,the in the white community, who have to pass on the hate thing to the next generation, and so it goes on and on.We all live together and should respect each others differences and learn about each others lives ,to understand what makes us what we are.thanks for posting this question**

after traveling the world i don't believe in cultural differences anymore. Some kids are good, some are bad, some old ladies are nice some aren't.

Americans have unique problems and divisions but there are enough people breaking the mold of what it means to be a blackman where you can't make generalizations about black americans either.
