I am a single mother who is currently working full-time. I would like to go back to school full-time to become a veterinary technician. I wouldn't be able to work and go to school because of daycare and other limitations. Would I qualify for welfare if I wasn't working at all? When I was looking up info on government sites, it appeared that TANF was aimed towards people who are low-income, yet still working, which is why I'm not sure.

Why don't you just work your way through school like the rest of us did? If you can't make it work w/ childcare, then tough luck. Wait until the kid is old enough to not require it.

TANF is a 2 year lifetime program.. don't use it unless u need it.. (and then u have to work so much to get it).. U can probably get food stamps and medicaid on the kids.. U also qualify for child care assistance thru the state .. I admire u for going to school to better your child's life...most people say "welfare rec. are lazy and don't want to work".. I get told that and I am on disability... IF u need it, get it..also check on the child care assistance.. that will save u whatever daycare costs...

TANF - Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, I think you may qualify for some other program, but, your State Govt. will still have you moving towards self sufficiency, maintain you employment, and TANF, now is for one or two parents meeting a disability requirement of the DSSH.(Department of Social Service and Housing)

You would have to check with the state you live in. Most likely you would qualify for at least one program, welfare or otherwise.

Lots of people have gone to school and gotten welfare.

Just make sure you don't ever vote Republican after benefiting from a Liberal program.

Why not just contact them and ask. You would already know, if you had called them before you posted this.
