No secret at all. Live life, observe, take in what you observe, experience things, open your mind and be aware. If you're capable of obtaining wisdom, it will come that way.

Wisdom comes from experience. It takes time.
Knowledge comes from learning.
If you want wisdom, you're going to have to try a WHOLE WHACK of things. Try good things, bad things, things that you like and dislike. The most important thing is you have to do them yourself. If you just read about them or hear somebody else's story you won't pick up the real wisdom.
If you want knowledge, stay addicted to Yahoo Answers!

How are information & perception obtained? ~~~ If there have been a one-length-suits-all answer, absolutely everyone could be 'clever' and 'insightful'! Hehe.... I think this is a funny question.
I spent a couple of months backpacking across Europe and decided to visit a temple in Northern Greece carved into the top of a mountain where a monk lived all by his lonesome.... sitting there by himself meditating every day. He wore these thick glasses that made his eyes look enormous.
I asked him.... "What made you decide to come up here and sit on a mountain and meditate?"
He said, " I have been blind all my life. Four years ago, I prayed to be able to see, my prayer came true.... so I decided to come here and worship God"
Then I asked, "When did you get your glasses?"
He said, "Four years ago, I went to Graceland, in America, and the doctor gave me glasses"
Was he a wise man on top of a mountain? I still wonder.

wisdom often comes after the fact. Remember that hindsight is often 20/20.
Your "hindsight" can be passed on as wisdom to others.

But being smart doesn't make you wise.
But being clever doesn't make you wise.
Wisdom is the ability to see all things from the viewpoint of eternity
Wisdom must be desired, sought out and pursued.
If we want to become wise, we must make a conscious decision to learn from our mistakes and to avoid repeating them. We must also learn from our successes
"He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."
