It may seem weird to you, but everyone has their own opinion. I think it is a very personal decision, that a mother makes. I personally only nursed for a year. I quit nursing when I felt the time was right, and by watching for signs from my baby too. I personally think 1 year is about right.

There is nothing wrong with breastfeeding your children so why is there an age limit at 1 or 2 ??
I was breastfed till I was two, so I did the same thing for my children. What is wrong with providing them the best nutritional start in life. Each to his own. There is nothing wrong with breastfeeding a toddler. What I find gross is breastfeeding a child when they are 5 or 6 or 7 and up. Everyone is different and each childs needs are different. It also depends on how you were raised.

Everyone is different. Some women don't like breastfeeding at all. Some do it for a short period of time. Some stop at the baby's first birthday. Some wean when the baby no longer wants it, which is where the two year olds come in. From what I've read, after a year it's more for comfort and bonding rather than nutritional need. The first birthday is generally when cow's milk is substituted, but it's all a matter of choice. Blessings...

I was able to feed my children until they weaned themselves. It happened between 16 and 20 months for my 2 boys. The teeth were never a problem. I would have nursed until 2 but to have an age preset in your mind is constricing. Maybe they would need it before or after. They can't read a calendar so why should you, to make a decision tlike that? It may seem weird to you becasue you haven'et been around mothers nurnisn their babies. Also the formula industry has commercials on which show you images of a very differnt kind. DR's agree that at least one year is best to achieve physical benefits, for infection protections and allergy too. Getting in touch with the La Leche League in your area would be a great resource for you.

I don't see areal problem with breastfeeding until 18 months or 2 years, but it isn't really necessary for the child (and can be exhausting and time-consuming for the mother). Once a child can eat solid food and get most of his calories from it, the benefits of breastfeeding are significantly diminished. Solid food can take care of his nutritional needs, and his immune system is fully functional by this age. Weaning a child at this age can be extremely difficult as well. When a child is ready to give up the bottle (age one), he's ready to give up the breast.

I think it's weird, but if the Mom and the baby are ok with it, so be it. After 2 I think is beyond useful. The Mom needs her own body back so she can make sure she is getting all the proper nutrition and letting her body build itself back up again, particularly if she plans to have more kids. It depletes the body so often and your bones need all the nutrients they can get to prevent future issues like osteoporosis. Until the age of one is good for the baby, until the age of 2 may be good for the Mom and baby from a trust and emotional well being standpoint, but after 2 is not necessary for anyone.

I breastfed until my daughter was 13 months. 18 months sounds to be the absolute maximum to me, but I don't think I'd ever do it that long. One year sounds about right. Believe it or not, I've known of a few moms who were breastfeeding the children at 6 years old!!!! - Now that's gross!!! I think breastfeeding is very good, but I don't think it to be neccissary at 2 years old or any amount past 2. yikes!

What does breastfeeding ought to do with poverty? human beings in Africa do not in simple terms breastfeed for that reason yet also because it truly is a cultural aspect for them. in case you've been raised in a diverse way of existence than it does not seem extraordinary to you. actual, the position we stay is the oddity. the U. S. and Canada are the worst for undesirable breastfeeding. notwithstanding that is been shown that breastfeeding is continuously good for the youngster regardless of how lengthy it truly is done...it continuously facilitates their immune device, which actual isn't mature until eventually age 6. the in simple terms proper to end breastfeeding global is definitely age 4. there replaced right into a learn finished of primates (that are seen the nearest genetically to human beings) that reported that they did not end nursing until eventually their children were getting their first permanant molars; that may be 5 a million/2 to 6 years of age. To be truthful, it would not be counted to me how lengthy someone breastfeeds her baby for because it truly is her own selection. it may seem extraordinary to three, notwithstanding it truly is definitely standard for most of the international.

After a year its more of a comfort thing than a nutrition thing. My little one is only 4 months old, but I can already tell it is going to be difficult to wean him. He wants to nurse whenever he doesnt feel good or is upset about something even when he isnt hungry.
