Girls do push-ups called "Girl push-ups," usually. It's easier to be on your knees and do a push-up than just be supported by your hands and toes. Also, most P.E. teachers take into consideration each student's physical capabilities and won't expect your sister to do what she can't.

However, getting some exercise isn't a bad idea. Perhaps over the summer, you can work out with her. Start doing push-ups in numbers that are comfortable. Same with sit-ups. Before you know it, those muscles will be strong enough to keep up with the other girls.

well if you are older you know how to help her and you know pushups and sit ups are not that hard to learn, she may never be great at it but she will learn. Everyone is nervous about middle school.

if she can't do it, she won't do it. its not boot camp or basic military training. they can't force her or require her to do it. she'll be fine.
