To answer the reason why the slave owners kill them was because they viewed smart slaves as possible threats to rebel against them. Hense why the owners never gave slaves any form of education even though it can allow them to work in domestic tasks. Killing one smart slave is a better trade-off than a risk of a rebellion. I heard this in a history class but I couldnt find any sites specified to this.

u must be from up north or not from America because u think all slaves were Field hands and kept illiterate. When that's not true at all sure some of them were field hands but there were allot that were very well educated. just like the white kids those were the ones that stayed at the plantation house. plus the plantation owners used slaves as Nanny's so they would have to be smart to teach their kids until they went to school. in fact they would teach both the white kids and the slave kids to. and no slave owner would have killed a slave they were worth allot money so they wouldn't have killed if they had one that caused problems they would sell it and separate the slave from that plantation.

I cannot provide links because no sites will show exactly what you want. It depends on where the slaves worked, if they were in the Slave Quarters, then yes, because they could be taking in runaway slaves. If they worked in local shops, no, because they would have nowhere to keep runaway slaves. Also, slaves were not very smart, ever. They were taken captive from their home country at a young age a lot, and education they got there was useless in the colonies. Hope I helped!

Yes they killed the smart slaves. For one they didn't want them to teach the other slave. For two any educated black person, slave or free, is a threat to the white man's society. Thirdly, the smart one would not run, because they were to smart for that

Insolent slaves maybe but not smart ones. Slaves were a sign of wealth and that would be expensive to do. So that is ridiculous. They would be put in shackles but not killed, just like the gladiators were because they were strong fighters but they cost money too. So it was better to get your monies worth in the arena, and then profit and get more. Get it?

Why would you kill a really valuable slave? If they are smart, best to make them a house servant. If they are rebellious, sell them. Killing a slave was a total waste of money. Most slave owners resisted even whipping them because it decreased their value.

Why would they want to kill a slave that they considered to be smart. that makes no sense at all. they could have put them in the house and taught them to be a house slaves. I am glad that we live to where we cannot have slaves.

why would you kill a smart slave? apparently you lot are ******* stupider than cattle.
to wipe out the initelligent gene pool of blacks, you ******* idiots. whites did anything and everything the could to ensure the black human would never prosper, including killing any slave they even THOUGHT 'looked' smart.
they kept the big strong dumb (appearing) ones, and yes, killed off all the intellects.
y'all ******* stupid as ****.
