I understand the small things like washing clothes, cooking dinner, etc. but when they still don't see it, how can you show it?

Observe them; see how they express their love to you (within certain classifications), and then mirror it. Look for these types of expressions:
1. Physical touch
2. Encouraging words
3. Quality time
4. Acts of Service
5. Gifts

If a man begins taking things for granted try to get him out of that state. Go out with your girlfriend one night instead of cooking him a dinner. Tell him you will be late. But once he's realized what he is missing show him that you love him by being affectionate. Men like to be desired.

Aside from the small things that you mentioned, spending quality time and having a great love life is important. A lot of are people are more focused on making sure that clothes are clean, but the love life is more important.

What do you mean by "but when they don't see it " that sounds like "they need to show some love.
But if what you are asking is something special some little way to show your love, then how about something like running then a warm bath complete with warmed towels and back scrub (my husband loves me to surprise him like this or sometimes I will make his favorite oatmeal cookies and drop them at his work place just out of the blue
Showing you love and appreication isn't hard just do something that you would like to have done for you

Well, if they don't see those things they are not likely to see whatever else you do to show it. Try writing them love letters and being direct with how you feel.
