Yes. I would time the pain and see if it comes and goes. I had back labor and it eventually made it's way to tighten the lower part of my pregnant belly too.
If you are concerned, go the the hospital. They see moms-to-be all the time and have no problem hooking you up to the moniter to see if it's labor. Don't be embarassed if it's not. Congratulations and good luck!!!

You could very likely be having back labor. I had back labor with my daughter not realizing it was labor. I just felt cruddy and my back ached all day. I almost had her in the car on the way to the hospital (30ish miles away). I started having an extreme amount of pressure in my bottom and knew it was labor. She was born within 45 minutes of that. I had 2 babies before her and 1 after. None of those back labor and all long laboring. If you really think it is labor you should go to the hospital and get checked. Don't feel silly if it isn't, you wont be the first or the last lady to go to the hospital only to be sent back home. If nothing else, maybe they can tell you what to do to be more comfortable. Good Luck and Congrats!

If the pain gets worse over time, then it is probably labor. Especially that you are 39 weeks. If you think that it could be, go to the hospital. They will hook you up to a monitor, check your cervix and either admit you to have your baby, have you walk around the hospital to see if you are really in labor or send you home to wait until the real labor starts. Either way, you will have your new beautiful baby really soon. Good Luck and congradulations on the new baby:) they are so much fun!!

I don't know about your case, but I had back labor for THIRTY ONE hours before my doctor decided to do another ultrasound and realized that I would never be able to have this 10 pound, 3 ounce boy that was position sideways in my uterus. No contraction ever registered on the fetal monitor- all of the labor was in my back and my thighs. I comparted it to being handcuffed to a column and footcuffed to a four wheel drive. i don't think my doctor liked me too much after that. I invented cuss words to call him. He just thought I had a 'low tolerance' for pain.
In your case it could be, or it could indeed just be the pressure of the baby trying to get into position. You need to be examined to see if the dialation part has started. Hope you have an easy time and your baby is born healthy.

Absolutely. I am not a doctor, but at 39 weeeks and the pain you are describing, my bet is absolutely. I had nothing but back labor for my first and because I never felt anything in my belly (which is what I was totally expecting - never even thought that it might not exist at all) I did not get to the hospital iuntil 5 cm. You may not be dialated or having "useful" contrations, but they are contractions nonethelss and that far along, it shouldn't take much to get things going. Please call your doctors 24hr answer ph# now.
Good Luck.

Oh mamma...I had back labor with my first. I started out having cramping in my back at home. I took a warm bath to soothe the pain...it worked! for about the 10 minutes I was in the bathtub!! I remember the dr asking me to move down on the table to get ready for delievery and it was mid contaction...my back hurt sooo bad I couldn't move. It's very possible it's back labor.
Good luck!!

I had back labor with my son, however if you are in labor it will continue to get stronger, you could feel heaviness in your theighs, pain in your back that could either move to the front of your tummy or just down your sides, and of course your unterus (the top of your tummy) would become noticeably tight. Good luck!

I had back labor with my second child. I had no idea that I was IN labor. Then, I went to see my physician, and she said, "Okay, you're ready to have this baby now." I wasn't ready! My bag was at home and my husband was at work! He got to the hospital about 2 hours prior to her delivery, so you might want to consider seeing your doctor a.s.a.p. Good luck to you & congratulations!!!

If it comes and goes rather than remaining constant, then yes it could be.
