The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics.

My dad was in the hospital for the last time and we knew he was not going to be coming home. I had this daily routine of leaving work at a particular time, and taking the expressway to the hospital. It didn't happen all the time, but often enough the song would come on while I was on a particular stretch of the road, almost as if it was preparing me for the next visit and reminding me that time was running out.

The timing of the song's popularity was (for me) truly heaven-sent because it allowed me to prepare myself to say goodbye to my dad, and to make sure I had no regrets.
