When I bought the the 6 channel sound card it has a cd included and has drivers in it. I installed the cmedia sound driver and now my pc has sound. But when I reboot the PC the found new hardware wizard pops up all over again and in the device manager there is still question mark in the multimedia audio controller. I tried to update it in the location where cmedia is installed and on the installation CD but it cannot find the necessary software/driver. what to do?

im not having trouble with the sound anymore as i have said the pc has now it's sound but i am just wondering why the found new hardware wizard is still popping up.

And another problem i have is after i installed the sound and reboot the pc, it looks OK, but minutes ago, the BLue SCreen of Terros came up suddenly. I know this BST only pops up when theres wrong hardware configuration.

Please help me.

thank you so much

you might have to go into your BIOS settings and turn off/disable the onboard sound

I agree with chumpchange. Disable the built in sound. To do this you have to figure out how to get into your bios settings. The blue screen you talk about might actually be your bios settings display.

If you have to manually get to the bios settings, usually you can access the bios settings by watching your monitor when you turn the computer on. You should see a message that says something like "Press ESC to Enter Setup."

Yours might say to press some other key. Whatever key it is, you have to press the key before your operating system starts up.

Once you get into the bios settings application, just look around at the options until you find the option that lets you disable the built-in sound. You usually have to use the keyboard arrow keys to select different options. The bios settings application will give you directions on how to navigate around and select options.

Browsing through the bios options should be easy enough, but if you can find a manual for your motherboard, it might tell you exactly how to disable the built-in sound. You could try searching the web or the motherboard manufacturer's website for make and model number.

Good luck!

The problem could be that your comp. still has the drivers for your old sound controller. Try to uninstall the old device and see if that works.
Good luck
