I'm looking for some songs that I can possibly sing for my Senior Choir Audtion in March. I'm currently a Junior, and I'm currently singing Alto in a SATB choir. My range is appx. F3 - F5.

I'm planning on auditioning for the Senior Choir in March. I need:

Two songs for open audition (by different artists)(March 15)
One song for first callback (March 30)
One song for second callback (April 14)

So, basically I need four songs. One song that I was considering using would be 'Children Will Listen', from Sondheim's Into The Woods (Sung most notably by Bernadette Peters, starting in 1988).

I used 'Children' as my solo piece for our winter concert in December.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Cheers,

Rosefern

Something that demonstrates YOUR range.

Old Standby's -
Memory, Someone to Watch Over Me, Superstar, As Long as He Needs Me, My Favorite Things, Over the Rainbow, What I Did For Love

Not Too Tough -
Can You Read My Mind (original Superman film)
Sweet Heaven (from Copa Cabana)
Another Suitcase, Another Town (Evita)

Requires Some Courage -
Easy as Life (Aida)
I Dreamed a Dream (Les Miserables)
On My Own (Les Miserables)
Now That I've Seen Her (Miss Saigon)

DO NOT DO THESE NO MATTER WHAT:
Titanic/Heart Will Go On
You Raise Me up
Music of the Night
A Whole New World

My recommendations for open audition:
Somone LIke You (Linda Eder for Jeckyll & Hyde)
Bist Du Bei Mir - Master this and you're a shoe-in

Hm...tough one.

Children is gorgeous, I commend you on your choice, do it.

Take a look at some Opera's, especially Don Giovanni-- some great aria's there that you could sing. Or Phantom of the Opera- you could sing Music of the Night since it was originally written for Sarah Brightman, and can easily be brought down for Alto, I think.

I'd suggest doing a pop number, but since the Chorus seems to be really structured that wouldn't be a good idea.

I'm mostly familiar with Soprano music, so I can't really be of much help.

Good luck though!

in case you could sing Sondheim properly, do it, reason Sondheim is so no longer hassle-free it earns you greater admire. yet infants Will hear, in view which you have already sung it (i'm supposing people who hear on your audition could have heard this overall performance?), could no longer be the final determination. perchance no one Is on my own or deliver interior the Clowns. additionally think of approximately doing a son in Italian to coach off technique - Caro Mio Ben is a in call for usually happening. Then perchance a well known gentle pop - Norah Jones, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi. perchance first mild or Nightengale - do no longer do anyting too in call for or you sound like an imitator. you additionally can do a greater usually happening Irish Ballad or in keeping with threat a prior timey Broadway music like Sound of music or i ought to have Danced All nighttime. maximum mandatory is to have exciting and teach off your variety. spoil a leg!

I don't know of any songs particularly, but my suggestions would be to sing something that shows off your range, don't sing any pop, and sing something that you would never ever forget. Latin is always impressive, also.

Good luck!
