Society ought to follow scriptures in moderation while defining the law. As is said; "The government with least laws governs the best". We create more and more laws which give an opportunity for simple family disputes, which are a part of life, to grow into major conflict. This is when one spouse defines the law to gain advantage in a simple family argument. Ego sets in and one spouse adopts this fallacious argument and upsets the other which grows in magnitude. Then comes the sycophants who encourage one side and the fight begins. Control the spark at the outset before it becomes a major fire. For this society ought to be careful in creating more and more laws, and instead encourage family interaction in religious discourse in reading the scriptures whatever the religion. They are one and the same at the root. Whether there is one God or a million Gods will be clarified to us only when we pass from this earth. So it is sensible if we could understand that God is within us, and God in his nature is Good, and God is the essense of love. If we have this thought within us always society will itself change. Domestic violence will be reversed to simple family squabbles which are good in any family. Frankly I would say if I didn't have small and simple arguments at home, my family life would be really boring.

How can society put an end to violence? Human nature and history indicate is can't be eradicated. In the US, the "acceptance" of domestic violence has hopefully declined during the last decade or so. Part of the difficulty is convincing women (95% victims of domestic violence) that any hitting is not all right and totally unacceptable. Domestic violence is part of a power play and control system by the aggressor - the victims have to develop a zero tolerance and society has to insure that a safety net exists to shield the victims from future abuse.

I think, if we implement the classes starting from the elementary school that teach self-esteem, self-respect, and respect of others, we can greatly reduce the domestic violence occurrence. I believe, most victims of the domestic violence became victims because they didn't know better. They did not have the necessary skills of how do not become a victim. Same for the abusers. I believe, if we have special classes, starting from the elementary school, that teach the necessary skills against the domestic violence, and that teach the basic social skills that help maintain a healthy environment within a family, we will reduce this abnormality altogether.

Domestic violence would end if women would just learn to listen the first time they're told something!

SOCIETY HAS TOLERATED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FOR SO LONG THAT IT WILL BE QUITE A DIFFICULT TASK TO END IT, RIGHT AWAY. IT CAN BE DONE. WE HAVE TO START WITH ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ANY FORM OF VIOLENCE TOWARD OUR LOVED ONES. IF PEOPLE ON ALL LEVELS STAND FIRM ON THE BELIEF THAT VIOLENCE IS NEVER OK WHEN IT COMES TO THE ONES WE LOVE. THIS IS NOT AN IMPOSSIBLE FEAT YOU HAVE TO START WITH YOUR SELF. ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Do 10x the violence to the person who was violent...?
Force that person to suffer similar treatment by the victim's family/friends?
As long as there are violent men, perpetrating violence on families, the circle will never be broken.
Women tend to be violent from abuse by men......and pass it on to their boys......then it starts yet again....

Maybe if all males are killed at birth...
KIDDING!
It is a human flaw...not possible to eliminate it until judgement day...
