Yes, I got tears in my eyes when I heard the unbelieavble news. Especially when one of the kids said that Ben got kidnapped so they could find Shawn!
Scary to think the kidnapper was right there all along. Still many questions to be answered. I have to hand it to the Franklin County Sheriff--he answered every stupid question the reporters have thrown at him the last two days without losing his cool.
The Akers family said they had to go buy clothes for Shawn. I think Macy's, Wal-mart, etc. should step up and donate the clothes. McDonald's should give free food for life to him and Mitchell (the kid who saw the truck) and maybe some donations to child rescue organizations for the publicity they got on national TV.

I was thinking about Ben and his family earlier that day. With the ice storm getting ready to hit my heart was with is mother, wondering what she must be going Thur wondering if her some was alright, warm, and out of the elements. About an hour later someone in my office said that he was found. I hopped on the Internet and sure enough he was, along with Shawn. I didn't live here when Shawn went missing but I remember seeing, shortly after I moved here, people out every weekend wearing orange Shawn Hornbeck search and rescue shirts. I mean EVERY WEEKEND for many many many weeks. I was so very touched by that. His family and friends never gave up hope. I have watched alot of the coverage here on St Louis news and on the national news channels and I still cry. Even my boyfriend, who usually shows no emotion about anything at all, has teared up watching this. He gave up sports to watch some of the news coverage last night. WELCOME HOME BEN AND SHAWN. YOU WERE SURELY MISSED!!

i live in North Carolina now but remember Shawn disappearing. I dreamed for a whole week, he was taken by a man in a truck and I was so happy when I heard the news. Only problem is will this have affected him so terribly he will not be normal and why would be not contact family during those years, certainly he must have gone to school and been away from the man he lived with especially when it first happened. Will be interesting to find out if we get to know any of that info.

When I heard about Shawn Hornbeck I was on the computer and the tv was on in the living room and when I heard them say "Ben Ownby is now found along with Shawn Hornbeck" it felt like my heart almost lept out of my chest. I was in total shock. I didn't cry though but I was close. I thought it was funny when Shawn's dad said that Shawn's only request was to go to McDonalds. I just hope that the investigators don't bug him too much to tell them what happened although I want to know what happened too.

Reminds me of the Staynor boy awhile back , found alive after 7 years missing ..and also found with another boy named Timmy that was 3 years old or so .. Interesting story , the boy Steven Staynor was found at age 14 only later to marry a high school sweetheart, have a son and die tragically from a motorcycle accident. His older brother Cary Staynor went on to become the serial killer "Yosemite Killer " and is currently in prison. Tragic tragic story. But yes, I was thrilled that they found the boy alive and not just one boy, two boys.. I am scared of the damage the boys have suffered from this especially the one missing for 4 years.

I cried when I saw Shawn Hornbeck's stepfather was speaking, I can't imagine going 4 and 1/2 years not knowing what happened to your child and all the emotions that must have overtaken them when they heard the fantastic news

This just goes to prove you really can't trust people these days. I don't live where you live, but I am very glad, happy and thankful that those two boys were found, alive and relatively unhurt. Who knows what the older boy went through all these years, but at least the younger boy was spared the horrors of living with that man.

I got a little teary eyed bc my parents were part of one of the search and rescue teams in Missouri looking for Shawn, so they had been keeping up on any news or new info and following his story. My mom called me this morning and told me they found him and she was so glad...Thank the Lord!!!
