okay, most everyone has done a good job of answering your question, but I've noticed some things that they left out. First limewire prides itself on being virus free. The only things that will contain a virus are programs and usually limewire will warn you that it could possibly contain a virus. It will ask you if you still want to continue. If you are just downloading music, you are safe. Just stay away from games and stuff. Also to get a limewire tune onto your itunes.....

1. when you install itunes don't change the destinations of the songs
2. go to "file" on your itunes
3. go to "add file to library"
4. My computer
5. Local Disk C
6. Documents and Settings
7. "Your profile name" < Whatever you are logged on as
8. Shared

After that the songs should be right there.

*This only works if you are using a windows program*

Limewire is good for downloading music, and there's a free version of limewire, called limewire basic. You can get the pro version, but it'll just give you a slightly better connection and more options for files.

Like any other peer to peer program, there are files that have viruses on them, depending on what kind of file it is. for example, an exe file might give you a virus. Buit if you're downloading music, most songs are around 2,000 kb or more but if you see songs listed around 600 kb that you know are about 3 minutes long, then don't waste your time. Always make sure the song you are downloading is in the 1,000 kb range and higher. As long as you have virus protection on your computer (just in case of something) then you should be good. And as long as you know the right things to download, your information shouldn't be leaked

It is not like the itunes store, because you're not paying for songs, but again, it is illegal :/

However, make sure you still put your songs on itunes by importing the songs from your limewire folder.

Sorry if that wasn't any help.

Benefits of Limewire is that it's free and large variety of music. Disadvantage of Limewire is viruses and it is illegal to download mp3's through Limewire.

iTunes is safer and legal, but it costs you per a song.

The only way you know a file has a virus by having an antivirus scanner scan all files you download. If you don't have a scanner, then you will find out that you have a virus when it's too late.

OK...no clue about i-pods but
yes it s completely free!
kinda...you go and can search for an artist/song/album...however it is not as dependable as itunes and may not always have the song you want
it could give you viruses...your downloading stuff from some ones computer so it is possible...
i think it can only do that if you broadcast the songs you've downloaded...but I'm not sure.
run a virus scan.
alright sorry i couldn't be more help but i hope i was some help...
