It seems to me, if I may be silly enough to quote the Lion King, that there is more here "to see than can ever be seen, more to do than can ever be done".

What about all the stuff that is never seen and never done? You can live a full, crazy life and never do or see it all. What now? Does it all go to waste?

I imagine that this question is pretty unimportant to those who believe in God (He is up there enjoying all possibilities).

But what about those of us who are not able to believe in such a being and still have an overwhelming urge to size up the whole universe?

Is there a solution to this? Maybe if human civilization conquered the multiverse but I don't know if that will ever happen...

Thats why you have to do as many things as you can, experience everything you can, because when your gone your gone. Your not wasting anything because we don't have enough time to see and do everything in the world, plus there are always thinngs that you don't want to do so you yourself are in fact inhibitting your potential to do everything and see everything. just do what you want see what you want, make this life as good as you can you only get one.

Have you ever heard of the classic argument: quantity versus quality? It sounds like you favor quantity. You obviously want to go and do everything, and have everything. That's not a bad way to be. But, consider for a second, when all is said and done, how much are you really going to remember. How about, instead, taking time to enjoy the small things in life? Don't worry so much that you're not doing everything. There are plenty of people out there, doing plenty of things, and eventually, perhaps, with all of the human race working together, everything will eventually get done.

ok, so it's not really important whether or not people of the future will conquer the universe because you and I will be dead by then.

But what about now? I like the idea of live for the moment, but in reality that's junk too because anyone in their right mind has plans for the future.

You can take a sample of life, doing a little of everything you can get your hands on, or you can focus on a few things and enjoy those. But either way we're all headed for death, how you live it doesn't matter as much as how much you enjoy it.

It would be absolutly humanly impossible to size up everything there is to know and do in the universe. It's a simple question of time. When you think about it, try to break down the space-time continuum. It takes hundreds of years to complete one light year. With this in mind, it would take several human lifetimes to do or see everything there is to do or see in the universe. Also, we are relativly new to the solar system, the Earth is a mere infant in the cosmos. Thus, there are far too many things for any one person to do or see in their, in comparison to other time spans, extremly brief existance. And no, it doesn't go to waste, simply because life goes on long after we die. As long as our blood flows through the veins of our ancestory, we continue to do and see all things that transpire thereafter through the eyes of our children and our children's children and so on.

The solution is there. And it does concern God. Why limit yourself to a short list of possibilites by refusing to consider the existence of God?

but that's what life is, that's why life is so fulfilling, indulging in all you can within your short existence, you would lose the value of your experiences in your liftime if you were able to experience everything and know everything, it's not a waste, but just an unknown, and not knowing is in itself an amazing experience

get frozen, have them thaw you out when medical science evolves to the point where humans can stay alive indefinitely, and then enjoy your very long life,

tell the people around and above you that you'd rather they help medical science evolve than to continue killing, exploiting and oppressing each other. it might help

????

The point isn't to get through the entire list of Things One Can Do.

Do things you want to do.

THAT's the point.

(I mean, are you going to eat cat barf, just because it's a possible thing to do?)

It's not that there's a solution, it's that there isn't a problem.
