It comes from the fact that everyone in Latin America speaks a Latin based Language such as Spanish or Portuguese and many even have Latin or partly Latin bloodlines often mixed with Amerindian or Black, the Latin blood mainly being Spanish, Italian or Portuguese. The term America comes from the fact that the Geographic location of the coutnries is in North America (Mexico), Central America ( Honduras, El Salvador ect) or South America (Brazil, Argentina). The Latin culture often prevails as well, especially Spanish culture. If you look at some countries in Latin America, the architexture looks like the buildings in Southern Spain. I believe this comes from the Conquistadors and their vast influence.
