What are laws concerning disinheriting adopted children in New Jersey? I know that there is an agreement with adopting a child and taking care of the child, but how is that translated or handled in inheritance?

I don't know about specific laws...but if you wish to disinherit your adopted children simply write them out of your Will and adjust the beneficaries on all of your insurance to the names of your biological children alone. If you pass away without a Will they may be entitled to something by State Law (I think most do it by percentage)..but a legally binding Will eliminates the possibility of them getting anything. Make sure that you have a well qualified attorney do the paperwork so that your wishes are ironclad before you pass. This will lessen the chances of your Last Will and Testament being challenged.

Good Luck!
