The smartass answer is the egg because dinosaurs layed eggs long before there were chickens,
The scientific answer is also the egg because the chicken resulted from an mutation in the egg laid by a chicken ancestor, or proto-chicken.

And the answer is the egg. Because in either situation, an egg is involved. This is because either, an egg was there and it hatched, becoming a chicken, or there just so happened to be a fetal chicken, and it had an egg in the reproductive sense.

I work for a very large poultry firm. Without a doubt the Hen Chicken was first, along with a male Rooster.
Babies don't take care of Adults in this world. The Adult animals are the pro-creators which in turn start the next generation, and are the caretakers of the babies.

You think in a linear manner. Evolution does not work that way, as populations evolve, not individual chickens and eggs. So, it will be egg first, because that is the female reproductive " vehicle " in sexually reproducing organisms.

That depends on what you believe. If you believe in evolution the egg predates the chicken. If you believe in creation, Then God created the chicken first, who then laid an egg.
