I see their ads all the time on TV. Has onyone seen an actual fast food joint out here in LA or Ventura County?

There is none iN LA county. THe closest is in Anaheim or SAnta ANa. I think the closest one to you is in Bakersfield. I think SOnic bought commercials from cable companies in lot and is forced to advertise in areas where they have no restaurants. A frien in Las Vegas swear by them, but I ate the one in OC and it was only ok.
