Sex. ... What? Want me to elaborate? Oh, fine...

When the Christian church ruled all of Europe, sex was a sin unless married, and it could only be done to make children, not for fun. With raging hormones, marriage was wanted, badly. Of course there was adultery, but this almost always resulted in getting found out, and someone getting their head separated from their shoulders.

Other things that came with marriage was usually land, crops, cattle, and money. But these aspects weren't as bold as the one mentioned above. These ideals came with those little Puritans on the mayflower and other ships, although the penalty of death was a little more lax about sex outside of marriage in the "new world".

It is only important if you want it to be.... People that stay single is their own choosing but the Bible does say it is not good for man to be alone.... I beleive that statistically there is more stability in marriage and family than in anything else.... I also feel that married people usually live longer then single people.....

Unless you want to breed, it's not. Tons of people are perfeclty happy to make it on their own. Marriage is no longer necessary for survival — nowadays, people are opting for freedom.

Personally, I feel more fulfilled now than when I was married. It took a while to get all that crap 'society expects' out of my head.

I don't want to get married again. Too much hassel to change the name, etc.
