I am trying to wean my 9 month old from breastfeeding. When the time is right what is the best way to help dry up my milk supply, or if I was going to stop cold turkey how can I get some relief or is there something I can't take.

If you wean gradually, you should not have engorgement issues. Have you thought about cutting one feeding at a time? Then your body will have time to adjust the milk supply. You may even decide that it's nice to hold on to one or two feedings a day. I always enjoyed that schedule.

To wean your child, simply let him feed less at the breast...and supplement it with a bottle. Start out....3/4 time on breast...1/4 time on bottle....and over a period of days...increase the bottle, and lessen the breast. Your milk should dry up naturally.......if not, call your doctor, he can give you a shot.

I don't know how much help I will be but here I go......I just slowed down the breast feeding to night time and once he started to bite i just stopped.....he seemed fine with it.......Just leave your breasts alone and the pressure will stop soon enough,,,,if you pump it won't help b/c u will still produce milk.....ask your doctor if there is something you can take that will help you dry up...I started to take the pill (birth control) and that made me produce less milk.

okay well usually caffeine drys you up real quick. Once you stop nursing, it takes about a week to dry up or to stop being engorged. I went back to work and dried up real fast. I wish you the best and good luck...

I never breastfed, but they told me to go buy a bra that was one size to small or wear a sports bra. I dried up in a week or two. I don't know if this will help, but it made me feel more comfortable.
