Where in Antarctica? The coast is relatively mild, with summer temperatures just around 32°F and winter temperatures around 0°F. At the South Pole and other interior locations, summer temperatures average around -15°F (yes, 15 below in the summer) and winter temperatures around -90°F.

The lowest temperature ever recorded was at Vostok of -128°F.
The highest temperature ever recorded ( 58°F) was at Esperanza Base on the coast.

Just for your info, the highest temperature ever recorded at the South Pole is +7°F.

South Polar summers are very short, lasting from late November to late January. A warm summer day at the South Pole is about as cold as a very cold winter day in North Dakota or Montana.

"Antarctica and the Arctic melting away fast. Polar Bears are drowning. Penguins will go to.....very sad. "

Why would penguins disappear? The only penguins at risk if the sea ice melts are the emperors becuse they breed on the ice. All other penguins breed on land and if the ice melts there will be more land on which to breed. Global warming should see an increase in penguin numbers.

Not sure, but one thing is for sure....it is getting warmer and warmer. I just watched an Inconvenient Truth (I had heard it was good here on Y/A!) and I saw Antarctica and the Arctic melting away fast. Polar Bears are drowning. Penguins will go to.....very sad.
