For me it hurt directly in the lower back like menstral cramps, only 100 times worse than menstral cramps. In terms of how low, it was probably 1-2 inches below my belly button in my lower back area and then streamed down into my tailbone area. It hurt so bad, I couldnt' take it anymore. I had to get some pain relief.

In obstetrics, the reason for back labor is due to the baby being in a face up position rather than a face down posiiton. It is called occipital posterior presentation. The widest part of the head is the presenting part and requires the pelvis to spread more than usual causing pressure to the back of the pelvic bone. The pain is above the tailbone.

I would say from the top of your butt crack up to your belly button, but in the back. I had back labor and it was extremely painful.

Hard to explain because it hurts like hell.... up from the back of your thighs all the way to about mid back... sooo achy like you can't get relief in any position you're in.
