i don't really read nonfiction books, but here are some fabulous fiction books i've read throughout my life...
just listen by sarah dessen
that summer by sarah dessen
dreamland by sarah dessen
keeping the moon by sarah dessen
the truth about forever by sarah dessen
this lullaby by sarah dessen
(sarah dessen is this really great author; she has really deep stories that get to your heart; and i know people associate deep with boring, but it really isnt. her books say 'be yourself', 'flaws are okay', and 'nobody is perfect'.)
twilight by stephenie meyer
new moon by stephenie meyer
kissing kate by lauren myracle
ttyl by lauren myracle
ttfn by lauren myracle
(deals with real-life problems; extremely real. ttyl and ttfn are written entirely in IMs)
eragon by christopher paolini
eldest by christopher paolini
(great if you're the type who likes reading 'lord of the rings' or 'harry potter')
once upon a time i was obsessed with chick lit (you know, those books that revolve around being popular, and being cool, and having all those boys love you...) but thats not me now. i loved the clique series, the a-list series, the gossip girl series.... but then i realized all those books promoted something that was not right, but utterly wrong (and i know this is gonna get me so many thumbs-downs). these books were saying that you had to be gorgeous and rich to be cool. these books were saying that you HAD to be cool, otherwise boys didnt like you. those books sliced down my self-esteem.
so i stopped reading them. entirely.
but these books are written by authors who get to the HEART of their readers.
i know this is NOT going to get a best answer considering how extremely biased i am but i really hope you'll read this and take my advice, and at least read one of the books i recommended. (especially the ones by sarah dessen)
they're extroardinary.
hope this helps!!!!!

I can tell you what I like to read and I'm 15 but probably around your reading level
I highly recccomend philip pullmen's his dark materials series that is if you like wierd peices of hardwear and alternate worlds the first book is called the golden compass and currently there are 2 more in the series
another series is called the artemis fowl series by Eoin Colfer that is if you like faeries and reading about smart rich teen guys solving puzzles and all that stuff 5 books in the series and some talks about a movie great one of my favorite series
the last book and it's sequal might be below you but I enjoyed it when I was 14 so you might like it now, the first book is called fairy wars and it's sequal the purple emperor both by herbie brennan has faeries, again, and also cool instruments and different worlds making it have everything I want
I highly suggest checking any or all of these out they all have something cool to offer

I'm not sure if science fiction is lumped in with fantasy, but, I really liked Ray Bradbury stories when I was your age. Especially, the Martian Chronicles:
The Martian Chronicles is a 1950 science fiction book by Ray Bradbury that chronicles the colonization of Mars by refugee humans from a troubled Earth, and the conflict between aboriginal Martians and the new colonists. The book lies somewhere between a short story collection and an episodic novel, containing Bradbury stories originally published in the late 1940s in science fiction magazines. For publication, the stories were loosely woven together with a series of short, interstitial vignettes. Bradbury has credited Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio[1] and John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath as influences on the structure of the book. He has called it a "half-cousin to a novel" and "a book of stories pretending to be a novel." As such, it is similar in structure to Bradbury's short story collection, The Illustrated Man, which also uses a thin frame story to link various unrelated short stories.
*It's good to see that you have a love for reading!!

The Changeling Sea by Patricia McKillip- A girl who lives in a fishing village curses the sea which releases a (nice) sea monster who turns out to be a long lost prince. It's a great book, short, but great. I highly recommend it.
The Hero and The Crown by Robin McKinley- A tomboyish princess trains a three-legged horse and goes off to fight a dragon that's been terrorizing the countryside.
Green Rider by Kristen Britain- A girl runs away from school and on her way home, comes across a dying messenger. He asks her to carry his message to the king. She agrees and is chased by brigands who are trying to steal the message and kill her. She has several side adventures, discovers a magic talent, and makes some interesting friends. Very exciting!
The Mermaid Summer by Mollie Hunter- A brother and sister must figure out how to get a temperamental mermaid to remove a curse she placed on their fishing village, thus allowing their grandfather to return home.

Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo by Obert Skye
genre: Fantasy
"Fourteen-year-old Leven Thumps lives a wretched life in Burnt Culvert, Oklahoma. But his life is about to change and his destiny be fulfilled as he learns about a secret gateway that bridges two worlds- the real world and Foo, a place created at the beginning of time in the folds of the mind that makes it possible for mankind to dream and hope, aspire and imagine. But Foo is in chaos, and three transplants from that dreamworld have been sent to retrieve Leven, who alone has the power to save Foo. Enter Clover, a wise-cracking, fuzzzy, foot-high sidekick; Winter, a girl with a spectacular gift of her own; and Geth, the exiled but rightful ruler of Foo. Their mission: to convince Leven Thumps that he has the power to save Foo and help him reach the hidden gateway and destroy it before it is too late."
This is a very good book! It's well-written, and quite funny!
