When I first read about it, it seemed to be like a Kid's movie, but I was suprised to see that it had an R rating, is it violent, does it have adult content , or is it disturbing in any way? I would like to hear from people who have seen the movie, and have them explain to me why it's Rated R

It's violent, it has torture scenes, and they are very graphic. It also has strong language. The movie is set during the last days of the Civil war in Spain, most of the movie is about this. The fantasy part is what the girl sees during her life in the mountains (her mom marries a blood thirsty captain). The faun is scary sometimes, and there's a scene with a monster (an ogre) that was scary as well. Absolutely not for children, but an excellent movie.

it is rated R for graphic violence and some language. It is in spanish and sub-titled. Post-war Fascist repression is at its height in rural Spain and the girl must come to terms with that through a fable of her own. Will be seeing it wed if the roads are good.
