I know several locksmiths who make very good money. In the range of $50-75K per year & more.
The bottom line like in most careers is how hard do you want to work? If you want to work hard, build a business, & put in 35-50 hrs a week, you can really clean up as a locksmith.
If on the other hand you are more laid back, not all that driven , and only want to work 20-30 hrs a week at a leisurely pace you won't do as well.
YOU make the call!! Good Luck!!

It is like any other business
You get out out of it , what you put into it.
You have to take courses to learn about locks, and making keys, you have to buy equipment and most likely have a truck so you are mobile, You have to advertise to get known, and you need to do a good job at a reasonable price so people will recommend you to others.
As with all small businesses, you need enough capital to do the above and to keep you in wages for about 3 years until your business is big enough to pay you wages, and longer to make real money

With a couple years of experience, I would say upwards of $40,000-$50,000/year USD, somewhat depending of course on the location where you'd be doing your locksmith work.
