I don't like talking to my mom. Can someone be brave enough to describe every little detail of they're first period? Possibly even some events that occured 2nd or 3rd time? I would like to make sure its my period!

Geez mine was so long ago I can hardly remember. It was the last day of school in 3rd grade, I remember my stomach hurting, but I thought I had eaten something that didn't agree with me. My little sister came up to me and told me that my WHITE shorts were bleeding. Someone gave me a pad and I prayed that the kids at school would forget about it over the summer. I would bleed heavy for 7-9 days and cramp like crazy. It's usually pretty obvious when you get your first period. Unless you hurt yourself (and believe me you'd know if you did) it's probably your period. Good luck and don't sweat it. Before long you will be worried if you don't get your period. Oh and it is normal to pass snail like blood masses of different sizes. Sorry to be so graphic.

Most girls seem to discovered their period when the blood is already dried, so it will be dark most often.

I didn't think it was my period because I'd been out playing hide and seek and had had trouble going over a picket fence... the ones with points on the top. I screamed for my mom to come and help me because I really thought I'd injured myself from the fence like an hour earlier. My mom knew better. It was the day before I started school in grade 6.

For the first couple I felt nothing. I just came.

It would last about 3 days but because it wasn't flowing ALL the time I tried to get away with not wearing a pad all the time because I felt like everyone knew it was there. I ruined a lot of underwear.

If you don't like talking to your mom, find a teacher, coach, aunt or another adult you're comfortable with. Breaking down and talking to your Mom would be best though.

Even now, in my mid-20's its rare for me to find BRIGHT red blood as most of the "blood" is not blood but tissue. If its bright red and a lot REALLY go talk to your mom, you MIGHT want to go get it checked out as it MIGHT not be normal.

Um well if there is blood coming out than it is most likely your period; if not then you will need to talk to your mom so that you can visit a Dr. There is not really much to say other than that.
I think that you should tell your mom though, I'm sure that she would be really happy to know that her little girl is growing up; this is a part of becoming a women and i don't think she would want to miss out!

The 1st time I got my period I was at home and I lived with my dad not my mom! When it happened I was scared I knew what it was I was still scared. I went into the living room and told my dad and he just stood there looking at me! He finally got up and said I'll be right back I have to go to the store. He came back with pads took out another pantie from my dresser and showed me how to put it on! It didn't hurt it felt weird but not bad! Time and age has hit me and now I cramp! But it wasn't bad!

My first day of seventh grade, I was sitting on a bench outside the school...during lunch, and I felt a little damp...I went to the bathroom and peed, and as I wiped...I saw a bit of pink... I had no idea it was coming, was not prepared, was very embarassed and had no friends as I had just moved to that town and knew nobody. OMG! Believe me, if you have your period, you will know because you will see pink, or red, or dark brown, depending on how bad it is...and your first time won't be too bad. Advice, talk to your mother...mothers aren't that bad, they were there once...believe me!

holy crap little one , if you cant talk to your mom about your first period then you are one lonely little girl. i was about 14 and i was asleep and my tummy hurt alot as i slept and i kept tossing and turning untill i finally got up to go to the bathroom and thats when i seen blood on my underwear and blood in the tissue. i rolled up some tissue and put it in my underware and went back to sleep. the next morning i told my little sister first and she told me to tell my mom. so i did. my mom bought me the stuff i needed . the next day i did happen to over hear her telling her sisters about it on the phone and i was so completely embarrest about it but, now i understand she was just bragging that her little girl was grown up. if you are having periods honey... you can have an un-wanted pregancy. please tell your mom about it ?
