Knowing the type of programs would be helpful. You might have a memory problem.

How much memory does your PC have?

That might be the issue. MS Word takes up alot of memory.

Knowing the programs would help, but there is a chance you did something that inadvertently stopped them, or something downloaded by you put these programs in hiding. If you remember when you last saw these programs, try going to system restore and pick a restore date just before you know these programs were working. If this doesn't work, go to your Operating System's web site and download a new service PAC for free. My window's XP no longer had a working system restore and In 20 minutes, I got it back by downloading service PAC 2 Good luck!

Yes. You may want to see it from the 'specification' side. Maybe you RAM is small (256MB)? Or slow processor? Slow Hard disk RPM? It all depends. Nowadays, people will usually buy a 7200 (or maybe 10.800 RPM) 80 to 100GB Harddisk, with 3.0GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

Before I upgrade my RAM to 512MB, Apple's QuickTime can not launch on my computer. Played Flight Simulator 2004 and the respond is very slow.
