i came in second in my school fair by building a model windmill, i bought a little motor connected it to a shaft on which i attatched cardboard flaps on wooden rods, i then took the positive and negative wires from the motor connected to a simple voltage meter. Then i blew a fan on the windmill and for each test i tried different angles to figure out which windmill angle extracted the most electricity in milliVolts. You can say how windmills are important environmental issues etc. its truly a croud pleaser to have a model windmill on display.

the year after i was a finalist in my school again by testing for phosphate levels before and after the sewage treatment plant, i got a tour and took samples from inside the plant which impressed the judges, i found out the water put out by the plant put out cleaner water by a phosphate standpoint. the judges like to see hard work, and going the extra yard (getting a tour with samples)

What freezes first hot or cold water? Trust me this is very very easy. I did it and got first place at my school. It took like maybe four hours of checking on the water every half hour. I just boiled one cup of water and had another cup of water in the refrigerator and put them both in my freezer at the same time. I put a thermometer in them both and recorded the temperature every half hour until one was at a freezing temperature and had ice in it.
