I have added a question already on this, but that was about "Virtual memory" which was said to be low, so I asked about making it higher, I got an answer and guided myself through the process, but then when I tried System Restore again..no joy. Can you please tell me what the Hell is wrong with my computer because all I am trying to do is to click on a "Restore Operation" which had previously been restored to in the past, and now will not restore back to then or any other time, whether yesterday or last month! Help, please!!

I do not think I have a virus, as nothing is playing up and nothing unusual is happening, just the inability to use System Restore, that's all.

all these answers and noone has told you where to go to turn on system restore, goto start, my computor, right click on my computor, then click properties, then you will see system restore tab, click it, then you should see a box that says turn off system restore, if it has a tick in the box remove it, that is whats stopping you from doing a system restore, if you have never done a system restore then it is more than likely that there are no points to restore to, once you have taken the tick out of the box,

goto start, all programms, accessaries, system tools, system restore then followinstructions given on screen for creating a restore point,

has for your memory try turning off or exiting programmes in the right hand side of your task bar that you are not using

Here are a few things I do with mine.

see if your system restore is not turned off.
Scan your computer to be on the safe side
Try to go to the last known good configuration (that helps at times)
go to safe mode for better results.
if your virtual memory is low maybe you have a virus runnig in the background

It may be that you havn't been creating restore points or that you have turned off the auto save restore point facility or even deleted previous restore points...If there are no restore points saved then the computer can't restore. The only thing that i know happens for you not to be able to restore.

You've left out a couple of important items. Number one, what is your operating system? Number two, are you using a third party backup that you are trying to restore from? Until you answer those, it's not really possible to give a definitive answer to your query.

It is possible that if you have managed some how to corrupt your restore points when altering your virtual memory settings & apart from changing those settings back there is not a lot you can do.

*lights cigarette* equipment fix isn't time go back and forth because all you're doing is reversing movements that were achieved earlier - time go back and forth will be difficulty-free if there grow to be some thing recording us, yet there is not any longer some thing that all of us recognize of. So the nearest we are able to get to time go back and forth is the thirteen:00->12:00 Heathrow Airport to LAX. sounds like system restore been turned of and you don't have any restore points to go back to, have you got an xp disc that you can do a repair with, or failing that do a full reinstall

Something isn't right that's for sure. Probably some files required for restoration have been corrupted. What you are going to have to do is insert your OS CD and repair windows.

tough Problem. THe most advice ill give you is check your files and delete whats crap.

Also, Viruses can be a big part of this. try a scan or two.

if all else fails. call you computer hot line. you may be on there for about 20 minuites, but it will get fixed.

Good luck.
