it has something to do with the media...for example in germany you only hear bad stuff about the us...iraq , guantanamo, and so on.our (german )economy is on the way down , taxes get higher and higher .so our politicians use an old trick...make others (in this case the usa )look shady and meanwhile noone regonize their own fail .
also the most ppl who say such bad things never visited the usa.
i moved from germany to the usa for good (my hubby is an usc) and i love it here.

If the U.S. took care of its country as well as it attempts to with others, we would be alot better. Isn't it better to spend your energy back home? Look at what happened after Katrina; people were shocked to see that within the U.S., American were shocked the most. They had no idea it was that bad for the poverty stricken within their own country. Americans are disliked abroad because of the reasons they do things they do. WWII, only because Americans were bombed in Pearl Harbour did they finally get involved when England repeatedly ask for Americans help. Then, Vietnam, what did that accomplish? This being after the Russians and French tried to do something there for 20 years and did not succeed either. Now, with Iraq...there were no weapons of mass destruction and now the Iraquis have their own government, why are we still there? Why are we sending more troops? It makes no sense at all. Funny, this is a democratic society, yet the president can do what he wants anyway, although most of the country and the house representatives disagree. What do you think that says to the rest of the world?

This country is democratic. The president doesn't have to take a vote on if he sends more troops to Iraq because he is in charge of the military (commander in chief). That's why Congress is only taking a symbolic vote on if he should send troops to Iraq or not. People don't dislike the U.S. because it's too involved. In the Middle East for example the government leaders are blaming some of their country's problems on the U.S. and telling their citizens that everything is our fault, much like American colonists did to gather more support during the American Revolution. Some other people don't like our country because of the policies of our government (i.e. Bush & Iraq) and some other people don't like us because some people suggest that they are jealous because we are better. You have pride and nationalism for your counry which is good, but you shouldn't go around bragging about how it's the best. And FDR wanted to enter WWII before Pearl Harbor, the Japanese just gave him a reason to enter the war which the entire country would support. In fact, the U.S. didn't enter WWII right after Pearl Harbor. We declared war on Japan and then Germany declared war on the U.S.

I am far from jealous... It is only the vast majority of overly patriotic 'my country is better than your country' people that I don't like. And I hate it how some of them are so ignorant to the other countries all around them. No offence I'm only stating my opinion.

I think it's jealousy! But why wouldn't thaey be jealous? The power we Americans have is ridiculous! Sometimes I think we get out of hand. One example: Buying David Beckham for 250million. He's not even American!! I don't think we should be stealing-- buying I mean--the world's best athletes from other countries!

We're the biggest kid on the block. You have to do anything for everyone to dislike you. We just have to rise above it, do what we think is right a not worry about what others think.
