the desire overcomes the persons ability to reason.
I cant relate to this particular obsession but Ive had others that, have become so strong that i was unable to resist and began to justify my actions .i don't believe I'm a victim of the obsession.you cant help it if a bird lands on your head but you can stop it from building a nest.there is a point where thought proceeds the action and you have to decide where thought ends and action begins. In my case i had to turn my thoughts over to a higher power and let him(god) restore me to sanity.which he has .if a person doesn't have this kind of relationship with a higher power i dont know how he can overcome such strong desires.will power sure doesn't work.

They feel they have a sort of power when they molest. Like the kid will be too scared to say anything. Or the kid will be too embarrassed. Or maybe the offender can convince the adults the kid is a liar.

Why do some intelligent people have terrible OCD, like Howard Hughes?
It's probably a brain malfunction.
It is not controlled by the thinking part of the brain, as much as the emotional and basal areas.
Doesn't mean we shouldn't put them all permanently away, mind you.

Sexual perversion with children is pure arrogance.
Pedophiles seem to be literally blinded by their lust and desires and c an't see the harm of their actions.

Especially when they begin to imagine that the child is benefitting in some way. Yuk!

They are sick in the head. They don't think about what they are doing. They don't think of the consenquences, they only care about instant gratification and ruin a child's life in the process.

these sickos thrive on power - its the hunt, the capture, the hurting, the fear they think they put into their victims that will protect them and prevent the kids from speaking out... sadly, this is too often the case.
