I've read and heard of several good results on this, and I was just curious. I don't get the cramps myself, but my 90 year old mom gets them. Thanks for your time.

yes, I've tried that....I put several bars of ivory soap under the sheets, but I don't think it helped, but made my bed smell good....I loaded up on potassium and calcium...drink lots of mineral water....and that took care of that!

there is a good website I had found this on....

http://peoplespharmacy.com/index.asp

they also have a radio program, and have a newspaper column....

Apart from the water and potassium advice, which are both good, calcium and magnesium are definitely what you're after - magnesium relaxes muscles but it isn't well absorbed unless you take some calcium also, hence the two in one capsule as mentioned above.

If your mother is able to get in and out of a bathtub and enjoys a good hot soak, try a cup of epsom salts in the bath water - they are pure magnesium and can be a miracle cure for cramp!

My father in law tried it and said he noticed no change but a friend of his swears by it. I guess it's worth a shot. My granfather would eat a banana and a Tablespoon of cider vinegar before bed and he always said it worked.

No; I haven't.
But, go buy some calcium & magnesium supplements (called "Cal/Mags, for short). You can take 1 per meal, or just at your suppertime. this will relax your muscles & stop both cramps & muscle spasms.
Very relaxing, too.

Nope.
I used yoga and meditation and it worked.
Have you looked at the side-effects of the RLS drugs?
