they let me "tighten" my stomach muscles in the hospital, walking the block at 2 weeks
I was running short distances at 4 weeks, you dont want to start alot of things like large leg lifts but you can do bends and standing knee to waist things. dont do too much or you will get crampy and bleed a little more.Your body will let you know when you are tired..listen,listen LOL good luck!!

It's after your checkup, which is usually 5-7 weeks. Most resources you will find will tell you it's OK to do up to moderate walking (probably not 5 miles a day, but a mile or two would be fine).
Try some light yoga too.
I have been reading a lot lately that says you should at least start some mild stomach exercises a few days after delivery - ONLY with a vaginal birth. If you start this early, it apparently makes everything easier as time goes on.

You can excersize safely after 2 weeks, but only mild excersize, you can not get back into your regular routine until you stop bleeding for a week, that way you know your uterus has healed.
