LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) basically contains butane, a saturated haydrocarbon, 4th member of the alkane family, with formula C4H10. It might also contain other gases as per requirement.
CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is basically methane, a saturated haydrocarbon, 1st member of the alkane family, with formula CH4. It might also contain other gases as per requirement.

CNG is mostly propane, C3H8. LPG is mostly butane, C4H10. The longer the carbon chain, the higher the boiling point. The next alkane in the series, pentane, C5H12, is liquid at room temperature.
