Well if getting your neck snapped is peaceful, well he did in that case.

They say he was really calm and polite before he died. I wouldn't be, because that wouldn't be fun at all... Even though he's done so many horrid things, I still hope he died in peace, because EVERYONE deserves to die in peace, if they must die. I don't believe in the death sentence (I'm sure I'd think differently if someone murdered my family/relatives/friends). I just want the world to be a better place, where people quit killing because someone else killed someone else first. It's just the same cycle being repeated. I mean... I know what Saddam did. He was a terrible man. But it's time to turn this world around. And I know everyone is going to disagree with me on this. I'm just saying... Saddam was bad. But if we can turn the world around and make it a better place, maybe we won't have to do this to people anymore. It's not fun for anyone, when you really think about it.

From the video I saw, it looked like the only "peace" Saddam had was the "peace" of his throat which popped out of his neck after he was hung, but he still died more mercifully than the thousands of men, women and children he gassed to death in their homes.

No, unless saddam was into S&M. His entire body was held up by his neck. There's a pretty good chance that his neck snapped. The force of his own weight and gravity beared down on his lungs and painfully and slowly asphyxiated. I did not witness it but that is how most hangings are

Contrary to what these other guys think, i personally felt he did. He lived in mansions and exorbitance throughout his rulling, he was in a hole in the ground for a while, then he might have felt a bit of a sore while his was neck snapping and then he kicked the bucket.

He didn't suffer like he was in the hospital or on his death bed, he died, with pun intended, in a snap.

Physically peacefully? Of course not. Hanging is a disturbing way to die, and he was defiant until the end.

Spiritually? He probably was. Let's remember that he would believe himself a martyr for his people, and a good number of the population is making him just that. Even in death, his presence will be felt in the Middle East.

Probably, he was in the middle of a prayer to God at the time he died. That sounds pretty peaceful - to receive forgiveness at the last minute of your life.

Saddam died with hatred, but he didn't die a Martyr, and no he didn't go to heaven either.

Nah, hanging is one of the most painful ways of dying because theres a lot of struggling, puking, and moving around.

Yes, if your idea of peace is being strung up while a crowd films it and shouts support for Sadr.
