According to the United States Census Bureau, there are 5.5 million unmarried partnerships within 105.5 million households, and 595,000 consist of same sex partners. Although this shows that 1% of households are same sex households, since the 2000 census shows a 410.3% increase of same sex households within the ten year period from 1990 to 2000, it is believed that the figures are highly inaccurate due to underreporting because many people choose to not disclose their relationships for personal reasons.

There are currently over 2, 700,000 teenagers in America today who identify themselves as gay or bisexual. New York City ALONE has 25,906 gay households! Each town in every city has numbers that vary. These are official numbers and they are climbing! Remember that many of the "unmarried" or "single" people on tax returns are actually gay people who by law cannot check off the "married" box, and there's LOTS of gays and lesbians who choose not to disclose their sexual orientation on census polls for privacy reasons.
WE ARE EVERYWHERE.
