All phones can be unlocked. But, the phone needs to be the right type of phone (cdma, gprs, tdma) to work on a particular service.

Well theoretically you can, but you will have hard time activating your phone on MetroPCS networks. Both Verizon and Metro PCS use CDMA technology, so the device is compatible. You would need to set the proper settings so that the phone would register onto the Metro PCS network. However I highly doubt it that Metro would help you with that unless you know someone who works for the Metro PCS IT Department and that someone is willing guides you through. Also you are better off getting a phone from Metro especially if it’s a higher end phone, because they do not cripple their Bluetooth like Verizon does. That means you will be able to send files and whatnot via Bluetooth using a Metro PCS phone.

No...Metro PCS uses a cellular network called PCS. PCS service is very limited. Listen to the word metro...it sounds like Metrolpolitin. That speaks for its self. They have very poor service...the main reason they offer great deals is because of their lack of network...on the other hand:
Verizon Uses a network called CDMA. It provides perfect service in mountain and metropolitin regions...and has been named the #1 wireless provider 5 times..no one has ever got it that much!!!
You'd be better off with verizon!
To answer your original question...NO YOU CANNOT switch from Verizon to metro an d use the same phone...
Thank You!

unfortantly, not. cellphones that are veriozon, cellularone, etc. have chips in them that make them specialized to their service. I think that's how they make money. They make you buy a new phone when you sihn up w/ their company.
