Ever since we had the injection pump replaced, the "service engine" light comes on occasionally... 2000 GMC Savanna 3500 box truck, with 6.5 turbo diesel engine. I know there is a way, but do not remember how it is done...We had the pump replaced about a year ago, and it runs fine, and we have had no problems, but now we no longer need the truck, and want to put it up for sale...Needless to say, we do not want the light to discourage prospective buyers, as it runs and works very well.( we do not want to disable the light, and do not consider it an ethical resolution ) By the way, the radiator, hoses, belt, coolant, thermostats, and more have also been replaced about a year ago as well...Any help would be much appreciated...

you have to have this one done with a scanner to clear it off, anything you do other than that wont work,i own a repair shop, and do this 6 days a week,,the only true way is with a scanner to clear it off, good luck hope this help,s.,,PS auto zone will clear it off for free, and it may come back on though,,if there are any more problems with it,,good luck.

Turn the ignition key to the RUN position. Fully push and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. If the CHANGE OIL SOON light flashes 2 times, the system is reset. However, if the light comes on and stays on for 5 seconds, the system did not reset. Repeat the procedure if the system does not reset.

if that does not work take it to autozone and get the guy behind the counter to bring the scan tool to your truck and zap the light off.

Goto your local auto store and they will hook up the OBDII code reader to your vehicle and tell you what the problem is.... stomping the gas pedal and disconnecting the battery terminal do nothing to your vehicle. Once your check engine light comes on it is because a fault has been stored in your computer and this is beacuse there is a problem. The only way to erase the fault code is with a OBDII code reader..... nothing else will erase it, not fruit, donuts, rolling your window up and down, stomping the pedal.... nothing.... goto your local store and they will square you away.

service engine light come on indicate there is a problem. if you fix the problem, the computer will turn off the light. if you don:t,it will come on. there is no trick to it.
