I am a writer so I use the computer a lot! Yesterday, I noticed a small tingling when I used my right hand. It's intermittent. It's not happening now. I also noticed it in my right thumb after I exercised. Do you think maybe I am waking up muscles that were asleep? Does it sound like Carpel Tunnel syndrome? Smile. Thanks

Sounds like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome to me...I had surgery for it in both of my hands..... the tingling got to where it hurt day and night. Often the tingling pain would wake me up.....another problem I had was 'trigger fingers and thumbs' -- hard to bend and almost impossible to un-bend without help from other hand.

See a dr. for a referral to orthopedic dr. Glad I had the surgery; but, it can come back as you continue to abuse your hands with all that puting. Do you have the right support for your wrists? Good luck!

Possibly carpal tunnel. I don't think you're waking up muscles; the nerves are being slightly constricted and causing the tingling.

Try different positions of your wrists and keyboard. There are wrist splints you can wear at night that keep your hand bent slightly upwards, so the underneath part of your wrist is not bent down. That can help with carpal tunnel syndrome. There are also ergonomic keyboards, which you might need if you type a lot.

THE TINGLING IS MOST LIKELY A RESULT OF LONG TERM NERVE COMPRESSION CUTTING OFF FEELING TO FINGERS (TINGLING, BURNING, NUMBNESS) LOOK INTO GETTING ERGONOMICALLY CORRECT KEYBOARDS OR BY PLACING THE KEYBOARD DIRECTLY ON YOUR YOUR LAP, THIS WILL ELIMINATE ANY SHARP CORNERS FROM RESTING YOUR WRISTS! ALSO IF OVER HEAD ACTIVITIES BECOME AN ISSUE (REACHING, THROWING ETC.) THAT IS CONSIDERED THORACIC OUTLET SYNDROME WHERE THE SYMPTOMS ARE VERY SIMILAR TO CARPEL TUNNEL, BUT INSTEAD OF THE NERVE COMPRESSION ORIGINATING IN THE WRIST AREA, ITS PRESSURE THAT THE CLAVICLE AND 1ST RIB PUTS ON THE ARM NERVE AND RUN DOWN TO FINGERS (USUALLY OCCURS TO THOSE THAT SLEEP WITH ARM OVER THE HEAD)

No I don't think it is carpal tunnel syndrome, your hands would hurt constantly, it sounds like you may have a pinched nerve in your neck.

It sounds to me that you´re fingers are going numb... usually the y do that when you DON´T use them... maybe it IS your muscles... work out your hands.
