If the person on the cell phone calls collect, and doesn't dial directly, then the person who has the land line pays for the call if they accept the collect call.

If the person on the cell phone dials directly, he or she pays for the call.

if they "accept the charges"
sometimes a scam works from the islands off Florida
you have been chosen - do you want to hear? press 1 -
and then you are on the hook for $5 per minute while NONSENSE is being sputtered about - so you listen longer to think you can understand it - but all they are doing is cleaning out your check book - because

you pressed the button that said YES!

be very care ful - when you answer a phone - and they say
is this- TOM? - I answer - Hello
IS THIS TOM? - Hello ......................never say YES

because you're on the hook - it can be recorded and replayed into another question - would you like to buy $500 in widgets - you've already said yes !

be careful!!!!!

if someone on a cell phone calls my cell phone during the day -
and I am out of minutes - I have to pay to use my cell phone
BUT I have roving - so I dont have to pay LD charges when I call out
