If it is stamped 925 is it quality silver?
What if it gets a tarnished look where it touches the skin and
discolors the skin?
I bought it from a Vendor in Mexico (Cozumel) in a store. It was $25 after the bartering was done. I trusted this little store in a open-aire mall and maybe I got junk.
How can I tell? Can Anyone stamp these numbers on a ring?
Thanks

.925 is the standard sliver marking, which means it's nearly 93% silver.
The thing with silver is that the skin oils act as a natural silver polish, so it should not tarnish when you wear, it should get shinier.
If the ring is turning colours on you, then my guess is that it isn't quite .925, or you are allergic to the alloy they use.

Hope this helps.

It sounds like real silver to me, and the skin discoloration could simply be a reaction to silver (diabetics are prone to this).

You can avoid the discoloration of the skin by painting clear nail polish on the inside of the ring.

I live near the border so I know mexican jewlery. If you rub it on a white shirt and it leaves a green stain its fake.; Same thing with gold although you can get some gold and silver over there for a fraction of the price and its ten times the quality of here. You just need to now where to look.

i am allergic to jewelry that isnt real...i got a ring that was made out of the handle of a fork and it is real silver...but it still turned my skin a greenish color...so you cant soley rely on that...if it bends easily then it probably isnt real...not sure about the numbers tho...take it to a local jewelry store and ask them to be sure.

go to a jeweler. Could be sterling silver at that price.
