My friend and I are actually doing our psychology final on dreaming. We're trying to present some interesting information that most people don't know aboutl I really want to know what can make me dream tonight? My friend just said that eating sweets right before she goes to bed makes her dream. If anyone knows of any proven facts or whatever, I'd appreciate that info.

Thank you!

Ha! No, I'm a 17-year-old junior in high school; I don't think you should expect anything too intellectual for my report where we stand right now on the research. Thanks though.

Yeah, and I do know that we dream every night, but we just don't remember them all. I guess then, I'm asking what makes us have memorable dreams....>sigh<

okay, first of all... and i don't want to be rude or anything, but if you;re studing psychology shouldn't you know that we dream EVERY night?... we always dream, but we don't alwas remember our dreams... now, since it seems that you don't have a set sleep cycle where you'd wake up close enough to REM to remember your dreams, its not going to happen overnight that easily... it might, but it may take a few tries... here's what you do... and i promise you its 99.9% gaurenteed to work. i'd say 100%, but stuff happens, so... here's what you do... you go to sleep and set your alarm clock for either 6 hours or 7.5 hours after you go to sleep... so say you had to wake up at 6am... then you'd go to sleep at either 10:30 or midnight... the REM stage (where we dream) in the sleep cycle repeats every 90 minutes (yup we actually dream multiple dreams). Now, this will get you wake up close enough to your REM stage to remember your dreams... however, it doesn't gaurentee that you'll be able to recall your dream easily or for that long... for that, its a good idea to sleep with a notebook and pen or pencil next to your bed so that as soon as you wake up you can write down the dream before you forget.

well that's it... good luck. =D

Sometimes this works;- during the evening, think about what you would like to dream. Make up a story of how you would like your dream to be, who would be in it, what would happen in the dream etc. Keep thinking this story over in your mind during the evening and continue thinking it once you are in bed. The theory is that when you fall asleep you will automatically go with the continuing story. Do not eat cheese or pickled onions before bed time, they will possibly give you a nightmare. Happy Dreams !

Someone else was right! You dream everynight. Your mind never shuts off thus you dream all the time, daydreaming..... You just need to try and remember what it is. I have heard a lot of people say that sweets cause vivid dreams, usually bad ones. Hey, try that. Sweets before bed compared to veggies. How do foods effect your dreams. Good luck with your study.

Um...if you were studying psychology, and doing a final on dreams, shouldnt you have a solid grasp on the subject? Meaning, you should definately know what would induce dreaming?

Ill just give you the obvious: Think about something a lot, all the time, I think a few hours before you sleep. And then hope you remember it, because I read somewhere we always dream, just that when we wake up all we can think of is "damn, its already 7?"

A good rule of thumb is tell yourself repeatedly "I will remember my dreams tonight" ie focus on dreaming. Next, set your alarm for 1 hour earlier than normal and have a pen/paper handy to jot down any fragments, feelings, even colors you can remember IMMEDIATELY!
BTW, you dream every night, but you forget most of them within moments of awakening.

this could be a private factor, yet whilst i'm very exhausted and bypass to sleep the two from a confusing day or staying up previous due, I normally have very bright desires wherein i will awaken believing what I dreamed.

Ore-O's breakfast cereal ALWAYS use to give me nightmares. (not sure if they still make it) Friends have tried it and also told me about vivid dreams. The cookies also work, but the cereal takes the cake!

It's the weirdest damn thing.
