1st the setup...I have a new Compaq puter...Since I brought it home I have had an issue with it restarting without warning. No BLueScreen of Death or anything that drastic, just restarting...Everytime it does this, it sends an error message to my firewall company...I talked to 1 of their Geeks this afternoon. She had me go in and change the NAME of a .dll file...What my question is...How does hanging the name of a corrupt file fix anything??? I can change my name to BillyBigD!ck, but I'll still be TommyTheLittleWhiteGuy...What has this accomplished????

Normally when you are instructed to rename a file, it is for two purposes.

1. So that the file remains for backup purposes
2. So that a new file is created by the software that is using the file

Now normally this is true with .ini and other configuration files. It could be the same on certain .Dll files from various software vendors.
