i want to be able to list a few stocks that i want to follow; not every stock that i look up a price quote.

delete all the cookies for Yahoo finance on your browser and then restart your computer

Well you can make up your own" page" on yahoo...and include a "portfolio" ( you can add and subtract stocks there as you wish)
There's a "quote" box at the bottom and you go from one to another and no list is kept anywhere ....................................
.....when you design the page you " add content" just add financial info and sites....your first portfolio that shows up is all the various indices..I've added a few foreign ones..........
I've operated that way since day one ...and it's my home page

Simple: At the bottom of the Recent Quotes list you will see a More > link as well as a Pop Out link with Pop-out Icon. Click on any of these and go to the mouse over the Symbol of the Stock/Fund line you want to remove/delete. Note to the far right you will see a Trash icon appear. Click this Icon and that Symbol will no longer appear in your recent quotes list. Note: If you used the Pop Out link with Pop-out Icon. You need to note which line you want to remove/delete and use the scroll bar and go to the far right and mouse over slightly right of the chart for that line and you will see the trash can icon. Click to remove/delete that line/sysbol.
