Yes you bake with it. The brand is any from a store brand and to most popular Arm and Hammer...Baking soda is good for cleaning drains as it has odor absorbing properties. It is safe to clean the fridge with it and like I mentioned absorbs odor. I use it in my baths sometimes the 'carbonate' like bubbles it gives the water is nice to sooth sore muscles. I also use it in the cat's litter pan. I once got a very rare coin as change from a vending machine but I couldn't tell what exactly it was. I went home, sprinkled baking soda on it and then poured vinegar and the reaction that happened there removed 40 years of grime. I had a 1940 Buffalo Head Nickel!

Sodium bicarbonate is the chemical compound with the formula NaHCO3. Because it has long been known and is widely used, the salt has many other names including sodium hydrogen carbonate and "sodium bicarb," as well as baking soda, bread soda, saleratus, or bicarbonate of soda. It is soluble in water. This white solid is crystalline but often appears as a fine powder. It has a slight alkaline taste resembling that of sodium carbonate. It is a component of the mineral natron and is found dissolved in many mineral springs. It is also produced artificially.

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a naturally occurring earth mineral that is available in the form of a white powder at grocery stores. It is used as a deodorizer, in tooth cleansers, and also as a leavening agent in muffins, breads, cakes and cookies. We like to use it in bath bombs because, with the citric acid, it makes the fizz.
