My son broke one of the canopy posts on my daughter's canopy bed. He ran into it and the metal screw that goes from the canopy post to the bed was stripped out. How do I fix this?

You can either fill the hole with wood filler and re-drill, or go to your local hardware store and get a gnarly looking piece of metal that is for stripped screw holes. It goes up into the hole, and fills in the gap and gives something for the screw to grab onto. Just ask them at the store and they will hopefully guide you to it. Also, it wouldn't hurt to put some wood glue in the hole before you screw it back together. Just wipe off the excess glue with a damp rag.

If it just stripped the hole for the screw and didn't break the screw off, just fill the hole with a piece of wood (pieces). It doesn't matter what kind. Then screw the post back on. If it actually stripped the screw, you will have to remove it and get another at a hardware store. It is called a stud.

Ived seen that before. A picture would be better for me to make suggestions. If it split like the ones Ived done before. could you force wood glue into the splits then use clamps to squeeze it back together. use card board or wood between the wood of the bed and the clamps, not to mar the wood. and dont accidentally glue the card board or wood to the bed. Like I said I wish I could see pictures of how the splits are forming. Use a good wood glue like "tight bond" or similar product.

With a 1/2' drill bit, drill out the section of post where the screw hole is. Cut a small piece of a 1/2' dowel rod to fit into the drilled hole. Glue the fitted piece of dowel into the hole and let set over night. then re-drill the proper size hole for the screw to be reinserted.

You can epoxy the screw back into the canopy post. It would be stronger than new.
