I live in a small town. Probably die in the same small town....
as Mellencamp would say. Do you live in a small town? What has been done to improve the quality of life in your town? Do your local politicians, school board members, etc "get things done" or just fight and bicker? Do you feel your voice is heard? Do you feel your town is better now than it was 20 or 30 years ago or is it on a painful slide into dispair and disrepair? I need some input as to how average citizens can save a small town which only remotely resembles what it once was. Can you help?

I just saw on public tv yesterday that a town with 5000 put their money together and reestablished their downtown shopping district. After the downtown area collapsed they tried to get stores like walmart and target to build in their town but none of the corp. biggies would even think about it with only 5000. The closest shopping district is 80 miles one way. So they organized and put in $500 per person and now they sell everything imaginable to the citizens of their own town and it is working out for them.

Sorry I can't remember the town or the state :(
